What is the Goal?

UR Fit fix’s goal is to make working out easier and more efficient for all gym goers. Exercise plays an important role in almost everyone's life whether it be used to improve one’s physical or mental health or both. Within the University of Rochester students who work out often rely heavily on the gym to keep themselves feeling good physically and mentally as well as bring balance to their busy day to day lives on campus.

Establishing a Schedule

After the ideation stage in the 2021 Winter Semester. We worked through three major milestones:

February - Prototype/User Testing

March - Partnering with the GAC and pushing marketing strategies

April - Finalize Website and Present Capstone

Marketing and Creative Process

For the marketing of our Capstone, Syler and Tyler took the lead in creating slogans and the overall feel for the marketing scheme. Concerning the creative process the group worked together to design the website layout and film the promotional video. Josh is responsible for the programming and internal structure of the site.

Finalizing the End Product

Finishing the product was challenging as along the way we ran into a few roadblocks. The first being partnering with the GAC and IT which took work but was eventually a success. Second, there are a few facets that we had included in our prototype that we could not include, the most notable being the QR code feature which we were not able to implement.

Solving
the Problem

Avid gym-goers nationwide have a very important commonality: they use equipment to work out. The biggest obstacle to working out, in the gym-oriented fitness community, is unavailable equipment-- whether it is taken or out of service. No matter what their background, athletes encounter situations where they are unable to complete their workout as planned, if at all, because they do not have access to the facility’s equipment. The most frequent cause of this occurrence: overcrowded gyms. Whether they are a professional powerlifter or a crossfit athlete, someone trying to get or stay in shape, or someone just trying to blow off some steam, this can be detrimental both physically and mentally. In an attempt to mitigate the effects of overcrowded gyms and unavailable equipment, UR Fit Fix aims to address the issues in our own microcosm that is the University of Rochester.
